Over the next two weeks, all members of your fire department will participate in training focused on ice and cold water rescue. We are pleased to announce that we have received our Rapid Deployment Craft (RDC) through a Fire Equipment Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services this past week. This boat can be rapidly inflated using one of our SCBA air cylinders, making it easy to store and deploy quickly. The RDC enhances our operations by providing a stable platform from which two rescuers can work. If you see us out on the ice, don’t worry—our specialized suits keep us warm and dry (hopefully)!
