Firefighting at our town′s beginnings did not include motorized apparatus such as aerial ladders′ pumpers and rescue vehicles. Emergency medical technicians were unheard of. If any of Manchester Fire Department′s founding members had been told that one day fire equipment would be propelled by engines rather than horse or manpower, they would have scratched their heads, lowered their brows and asked to smell your breath.
