At 10:59 last evening, North Shore Regional 911 alerted Manchester Fire to a fully involved vehicle fire on Route 128 South in the area of the Manchester/Essex/Gloucester line. Ladder 1 and Car 3 responded. Due to the close proximity to the town line, Gloucester Engine 2 was dispatched on a line box assignment. Essex Tanker was initially requested but later cancelled.
Crews worked for approximately 15 minutes to extinguish the fire. Route 128 South was shut down for a short period of time while firefighters operated on scene. Manchester Police and the Massachusetts State Police also operated on the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
