It’s Time for Fun Fact Friday!!! Emergency Planning Doesn’t Stop at the Town Line

Did you know that when emergencies aren’t happening, your public safety professionals and Town administration are hard at work planning for how we respond to, mitigate, and recover from major events?

You may already know that Manchester has its own local shelter plan for smaller-scale emergencies. But did you know we also participate in a regional, large-scale shelter plan?

This plan is coordinated with our neighboring fire and police departments, municipal partners, and private industry through the Cape Ann Regional Emergency Planning Committee, ensuring a unified, well-organized response if a significant event impacts our region.

When emergencies happen, planning, coordination, and teamwork make all the difference—long before the first call ever comes in. Have you ever wondered what might happen in a large emergency—or where you would go if “home” wasn’t an option?

Check out the PSA linked below. As Chief McNeilly points out in the video, the success of any shelter operation depends heavily on trained volunteers—and it’s critical that we know we can count on that support before an emergency happens.
