Teaching Fire Safety to Seniors
The Manchester Fire Department’s Senior Fire Education (SAFE) program is multifaceted. The program primarily involves group presentations in partnership with the Council on Aging. These presentations cover general fire safety at home, with a focus on safe cooking for older adults, proper placement of smoke & carbon monoxide detectors, the dangers of smoking, and home escape planning.
Presentations cover our current File of Life program provided by the Manchester Fire Department, along with the importance of a medical alarm system for seniors who are home alone. This year we will be launching a Key Box Program. Seniors can request a key box by filling out this form or calling the fire station.
