Did you know that your Police and Fire Departments conduct joint training sessions regularly? As a small town, we must rely on our mutual aid partners in the event of a large-scale incident. The Active Attack Integrated Response Course (AAIR), developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT), aims to enhance collaboration among law enforcement, fire services, telecommunicators, and EMS during active attack or shooter events.
Training is being coordinated by John Mazza and Scott Cluett through the Municipal Police Training Council and the Department of Fire Services’ Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (ASHER) program. Participants will include members from the Manchester-by-the-Sea Fire and Police Departments, as well as fire and police departments from Essex and Rockport.
The training will take place on Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Elementary School. Residents should be aware of an increased presence of public safety and law enforcement personnel near the school during this weekend.
Police and Fire Departments will utilize department radios to simulate real-life scenarios throughout the training. Community members who monitor scanners are encouraged to remain calm, as these activities are a part of the exercise.
