Firefighters Conduct Air Consumption Drill

Over the past several days, each group has been completing SCBA training with our new air packs, paired with a focused air management drill. Firefighters are putting the equipment to work in real-world scenarios to see how long — and how much work — they can safely get out of a single bottle of air.

Air consumption is different for every firefighter and can vary based on physical conditioning, workload, stress level, assignment, and environmental conditions. Understanding your personal air usage is critical to making sound decisions on the fireground and ensuring you always have enough air to work — and to get out safely.

This type of hands-on, practical training builds confidence in our equipment, reinforces accountability, and strengthens firefighter safety. We train this way so that when the call comes, we’re ready.

Your Manchester Firefighters remain committed to continuous improvement and to protecting our community with professionalism and preparation.
