At 1:25 PM this afternoon, North Shore Regional 911 alerted Manchester Fire to a commercial fire alarm activation on Beaver Dam Road. Follow-up reports indicated heavy smoke in the building, with a contained fire involving a cooking device. Car 2 and Ambulance 1 were already responding to a previous call, so Car 2 diverted to Beaver Dam Road. Ladder 1 responded with call-back personnel, and an Essex tanker was requested.
Car 2, manned by Acting Lieutenant Kenyon, arrived at the scene to find a large commercial structure with smoke visible from the front. Ladder 1 crew discovered a contained fire in a kiln-like device, along with heavy smoke in the structure. The crews secured the kiln, and removed the burning material. Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour to evacuate the smoke. Ambulance 1 cleared their prior call and responded. Essex Fire was canceled while en route.
