The Manchester-by-the-Sea Fire Department is pleased to announce that we have been awarded $15,500 through the Massachusetts Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program (FY2026), administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.
This funding will be used to purchase new structural firefighting gear for firefighters recently hired through our SAFER Grant program. Ensuring that every firefighter is equipped with modern, properly fitted protective equipment is critical to maintaining the highest levels of safety and operational readiness.
The Manchester Fire Department continues to experience growth and increased service demand, and investments like this directly support our ability to protect both our personnel and the community we serve.

This grant ensures that our newest members are outfitted with the protective gear they need from day one—supporting safe, effective emergency response for the residents of Manchester-by-the-Sea.
