Manchester Fire Responds to Working Structure Fire

At 15:54 hours today, North Shore Regional transmitted an ‘All-Tone’ for a reported structure fire at 2 Sky Top Drive.

The initial response included Car 3, Engine 1, Engine 2, and Essex Ladder 1. Upon arrival, Captain Cavender (Car 3) reported a fire located in the subfloor area associated with the fireplace.

Due to significant snow conditions and limited access to the rear of the structure, a full first alarm assignment was requested to ensure adequate staffing and resources. This brought Beverly Engine 3 to the scene, along with engines from Hamilton and Wenham, and a Gloucester Ladder into Manchester to provide station coverage.

Thanks to the quick actions of diligent homeowners who immediately activated 911, crews were able to make a rapid attack on the fire. As a result, the fire was confined to the area of origin, preventing extension to the remaining portions of the residence and significantly limiting damage.

While units were committed to the Sky Top Drive incident, Wenham Engine and Gloucester Ladder concurrently handled an additional residential fire alarm activation on Magnolia Avenue, allowing Manchester resources to remain focused on the primary incident.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our mutual aid partners, as well as the Manchester Police Department and North Shore Regional 911. These agencies work hand in hand with Manchester Fire on a regular basis, and their professionalism, rapid response, and cooperation are critical to maintaining a high level of service and safety for our community—especially during challenging winter weather.
